History

Nineteenth-century Venezuelan political thought and the formation of the Spanish American nations.

His academic work in history began formally in 2006, when he joined the Institute for Historical Research at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. At the same university he completed an MA in Venezuelan History, defending his thesis from exile in 2024, and in 2026 a PhD in Venezuelan History, awarded summa cum laude with the thesis recommended for publication.

Since 2022 he has devoted himself to research on nineteenth-century political thought, with emphasis on Venezuela, the formation of the Spanish American nations and their political and diplomatic relations. Federalism, and that of eastern Venezuela in particular, runs through all of his work.

As an associate researcher at INESDyC, the diplomatic school of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has begun a line of research on political and diplomatic relations between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. It opens with two topics: the exchange between the two countries after 1960, particularly between Acción Democrática and the PRD, and their twenty-first-century relations as examples of Dominican diplomacy.
